The Parovians have three sexes and strict gender roles. The Uggha (blue and pink) are the most common. Not too brilliant, but strong and sturdy, they're workers and soldiers. The Phakiha (black and silver) are the most aggressive, usually act as leaders. The Rhanote (blue and white) are weaker than the other types, but very smart. They hold the real power in Parovian society.

Interesting morphology of the natives and truly an alien concept, at least from my perspective. It reminds me of the excellent Gordon R. Dickson books "The Outposter" and "None But Man", in which the aliens always travelled in trios. Well, at least one of the books, I can't recall after so long if it was the same alien species in both stories. I need to find my copies and reread them.

Dickson's influence on your work shows in all the right ways and I'm continuously reminded of how happy I am to have discovered your work. :)

Funny fact: I've never read those books. I just wanted those aliens to be, well, more alien. ^^
Probably, Dickson's influence works on a subconscious level, too :D
